Public Call to the Australian Government
Public Call to the Australian Government
We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Government to cancel AUKUS and the Force Posture Agreements and to pursue an independent, peaceful foreign policy.
AUKUS and the Force Posture Agreements draw Australia deeper into preparations for war. They increase the military use of Australian territory, expand the presence and role of foreign military forces, and undermine Australia’s ability to act independently for peace, cooperation and security in our region.
We oppose Australia becoming a base for war operations. We oppose the acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines, the creation of nuclear submarine waste risks, the hosting or support of nuclear-capable military assets, and the use of Australian facilities in preparations for conflict.
These arrangements make Australian communities and cities less safe, not more secure. They divert national resources from urgent public needs and increase the danger that Australia will be drawn into a devastating war.
We call on the Australian Government to:
- Cancel AUKUS.
- Cancel the Force Posture Agreements.
- Reject nuclear submarines and nuclear submarine waste in Australia.
- End the use of Australian territory as a base for foreign war operations.
- Adopt an independent foreign policy based on peace, diplomacy, mutual respect and international law.
